Scientific discovery drives technological change that leads humans to flourish. From climate breakdown, to shortages of essential resources, to existential threats that imperile our democratic systems, the need for a radical acceleration of scientific progress and breakthrough technology is more urgent than ever, and will be a defining challenge of this decade. Further, not only will scientific breakthroughs be essential, but also bringing these technologies to market and mass adoption, with sustainable economic models.

But “if science can save us,” we will need to exponentially multiply our science and engineering resources and abilities, unleash more entrepreneurial talent, repurpose vast amounts of long-term oriented capital, and foster a more urgent global political dialogue to increase the probability that we can overcome these challenges quickly enough in our lifetimes to make a difference. We will also need clear security and ethical frameworks to ensure this is not humanity’s great filter moment.

To help foster a conversation and share insights, on Thursday the 13th of October BlueYard is hosting an evening of conversations over dinner in London, with short talks and open conversations with leading entrepreneurs, scientists, and policy makers in the space. As always, attendance is invite-only and limited to 75–100 people, to ensure high-quality interactions.

The evening will include a keynote address by Astronomer Royal Sir Martin Rees centered around his forthcoming book: If Science is to Save Us, and short talks / open conversations with leading scientists, entrepreneurs, and policy-makers including Kelly Wanser, Mark Lynas, Baroness Bryony Worthington, Obi Felton and Sir Anthony Seldon.

The event is at capacity, but we have reserved a handful of remaining seats for entrepreneurs, scientists, and curious minds from all corners of the intellectual world — if you are interested in attending, kindly register here and we will get back to you shortly.

BlueYard is committed to keep our events safe and open to all. View our code of conduct here.
